Hello all you lovely giving people! I've been churning out a handful of things for this community so that you can all go pimp it like crazy. Under the cut are fancy things like a logo and link buttons, and everybody's favorite extreeeem macro.

When we've picked a charity to give to, I'll be posting here with a big fancy printable flier graphic! Then you all can print it out and leave it on tables at conventions, and hand them out at bakesales, and so-on.

But for now, first off, here's our little logo:

That's been sized down by your browser, in actuality it is 5 inches wide at 300ppi. So if you're printing it out, don't forget to set your resolution to 300! Or size it down first. :)

And here is the giant heart chevron isolated for you guys who want to be crafty! I fully endorse the use of this as a stencil or something exciting! If you want to get kooky with graphics, DO IT.

This file is actually 8x10 inches at 300 ppi. That's huge!

And here is the download link for the Adobe Illustrator file:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/qzmzimzkgmz/giantheartchevron.ai So you can make it ANY SIZE EVER. Go vectors!
(I kinda think it makes a neat minimalist flier, honestly. You could color it! :P)

And now, three link buttons!
Captain Rainbow Pride:

Completely Vulgar:

Lensflare Classy:

And to finish this off, THE BEST EXTREME MACRO EVER:

So the deal here is, if you want to make graphics using these graphics, DO IT! If you want to use these graphics to pimp things, DO IT! If you want me to resize something for you, ASK. If you have a clever tagline, SUGGEST IT!

See you in the fuuutuuuure~~~

edit: omg! I forgot to add, I liked my "split infinitives" thing SO MUCH that I made a wallpaper out of it. It's got nothing to do with charity, but it is VERY GQ. Hahahahaha~

You could print out your own logo and make your own button!

Just a side note: If we plan to use the logos anywhere "official", is there going to be a problem with copyright infringement? I know it's general use has been accepted for ages, but since real money is being raised, someone might have an issue... Just a thought!

I'll be printing some out to leave around Toronto!

I think since the money is being raised for charity and not to make a profit, Paramount or whoever would probably overlook it if there were to find out about it. It's also creating a positive image for Star Trek and its fandom.

That said, it's a good question... I'm thinking about posting it on the movie forum but I'm not sure I want to risk being wrong about Paramount or whoever being OK with the logo use.

Hmm, good question. Can I put you in charge of finding out if we can use the logo like this?
CSayaneva on June 19th, 2009 09:36 pm (UTC)
Sure! I can ask one of the mods on the board. They'd probably know the ins and outs of the copyright stuff, at least for the board. brb

if it matters, I made the vector from scratch, and it IS subtly different in design from the standard chevron. Sharper points on the outside, rounder edges on the inside. And the heart is, of course, different from any of the symbols.

Thanks very much for investigating for us! Please PM me if it's going to be problematic so I can get cracking on something different. However, considering that the chevron is extraordinarily iconic, and Trek is parodied EVERYWHERE, I'm pretty sure it should be okay....

Yeah, I think it'll be fine. I'm still waiting for a response, though. I did make sure to mention that it was a variation on the logo and not the actual logo but the Trek folks have always been great with taking a hands off approach to fan ventures and just letting people do what they wanted as long as they weren't trying make money off of it or whatever.

I don't know how I missed this post. I love the designs! Good job! :)
